Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

The objective of the SEL seminars is to provide participants with the tools necessary to enable their students to:

* Persevere with resilience through uncomfortable emotions such as stress and trauma.

*Navigate situations of cultural difference with respect, empathy and open-mindedness

* Self regulate in order to create healthy relationships in academic environments despite power dynamics.

* Attain nuanced knowledge of personal emotions and how they affect behaviour.

* Respond to bullying.

* Support a safe space classroom culture where vulnerability is a strength that is perceived as courageous.

* Create a culture of empathy driven through optimistic curiosity.

* To pursue an active path of self discovery.

* Respond effectively to restorative justice practices

Culturally Relevant Curriculum (CRC)

The objective of the CRC Seminars is to lead participants through practical applications of discovery wherein they:

* Learn how to create curriculum that reflects students experiences of their culture.

* Acquire an understanding of the relationship between identity and culture and acknowledge these unique relationships in day to day interactions.

* Develop culturally sensitive communication styles.

* Base academic learning goals within culturally relevant curriculum

* Implement exercises that allow others to present their personal relationships to culture.

* Build relationships based on a mutual sharing of personal experiences with culture.

* Gain an understanding of skills in qualitative and quantitative methods for compiling and ascertaining information about students' relationships to culture.

Curriculum Packages and Trainings

The objective for the curriculum packages and trainings is to provide community based organizations with 6-12 session bundles and units of lesson plans that can be taught to the facilitators of participating groups. This enables any organization to conduct a Bay Area Creative youth development program.

* Mind, body, spirit synergy

* Non violent communication

* Self expression

No prior artistic experience is necessary to carry out these lesson plans as they include a thorough manual containing exercises, discussion questions, visual aids and examples. Each lesson includes specific learning objectives categorized along academic, psychological and creative growth points. If you are interested in a shorter ‘burst’ version of our lesson plans please let us know. We also include an evaluation system in order to gauge the effectiveness of curriculum and training.
