Rich Oak Events

Our
Story

RichOak Events is a spoken word and literary arts organization based in the SF Bay Area dedicated to providing equitable platforms for self expression to underserved and intentionally silenced communities both through virtual media and in person interactive engagements.

Our top priority at RichOak Events is to facilitate a space to empower people of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, abilities and ages to tell their own stories in ways that will produce positive change on a local, national, and global level.

Our Values

Equity

We are committed to the reparations and liberation of Black, Indigenous, and Global South communities by ensuring their voices are heard and not overlooked. We prioritize lived experiences, actively listen to diverse community needs, and continuously adapt our spaces to support the most vulnerable.

Empowerment

We amplify the voices of marginalized communities harmed by oppressive systems. We support local organizations and fundraisers to help redistribute wealth and uplift those most impacted by injustice.

Accessibility

We believe everyone deserves access to literary arts, regardless of background or ability. Our events, workshops, and spaces are always affordable, accessible, and open to all artists.

Accountability

We value transparency and creating informed, safe spaces. We encourage open communication and uphold accountability through publicly available policies on sexual misconduct and general accountability.

Community

We create spaces owned and defined by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to serve their communities. By making our events accessible and intentional, we ensure artists and audiences feel represented and at home.

Joy

We work to foster both joy and honesty, bringing communities together in love and support. We create space for laughter, deep conversations, and the full spectrum of shared experiences.
